The clocked ticked and everyone held their breath. Anticipation building as the whole crowd that was gathered throughout the world watched and waited for Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton’s fight to start. Rich and poor, well-known and common people gathered in all parts of the world as the battle between the East and the West was set to start.
A lot of people, especially those in the boxing bussiness questions Pacman’s strength and believes that his win against Oscar de la Hoya was nothing more than a fluke — Hatton was one of them as he firmly and continually believed that he was the better fighter and that he would be able to knockout the “Pambansang Kamao” in their match.
It would be a lie to say that Filipinos were quite worried for Manny’s sake as they feared that he would lose to what they believe was a formidable opponent.
However, everyone was given the surprise of a lifetime when Manny managed to knock the Hitman down, not just once, but twice in the first round earlier today. Manny did not let up however as it seems he is not affected by Hatton’s punches as it only took less then 5 minutes to bring the fight to a close as Pacman defeated… no, pulverized, the Hitman by knockout in the later part of the second round.
Shouts and cheers echoed through out the arena as the once proud Britton cheer died out and the celebratory cheers of Pacman’s fans boomed ever so loudly. There was no question now, Pacman is the greatest fighter the world will ever know (and that is saying something).
Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is unlike many boxers and famous celebrities now-a-days. It’s not because of his standing in Time Magazine’s Most Influential People but rather, it is because of his faith in God. A lot of rich and popular people often forget God when good things are rolling their way, but not Manny. Even during the weight-in, Manny would make a sign of the cross. Before bouts, he would also do this, and of course, afterwards.
I have heard of tales of his kindness, but of course, I don’t know to what extent his kindness goes. Manny also is respectful of his opponents even when they belittle or make fun of him, he has nothing but good words to those whom he would have to exchange fists with. Manny is also hard-working and despite being a great already, he still aims for something much higher and because of this, continually learns and becomes stronger.
Of course, the downside of the bout today is that for those people who paid for Pay-Per-View, they never got to even eat the snacks they purchased for the match or even finish the booze they had ready, lol. I heard a lot of people complaining because of that. A friend even joked that Manny wanted to extend the fight so much that he waited for Round 2 to end the match.
Watching Pacman dominate the ring is not the only thing that made me happy today for I get to watch the second Shippuuden Movie, entitled: “Bonds”. The movie basically shows the bond between master and student and between friends, although, Naruto’s bond isn’t highlighted that much as the movie basically revolves around Amaru and Shinou — two original characters created specifically for that movie.
Another thing about this movie is that it showed us how well Naruto and Sasuke fight together, although, they aren’t exactly fighting together in good terms but rather because they have a common enemy that they both need to destroy in order for them to survive. Of course, for Uzumaki Naruto, that isn’t the case as even when he is in-danger, he still thinks about Sasuke’s well-being.
What was emphasized on the later part of the movie is Naruto’s unwavering determination and what every pupil desires from their masters or mentors — what that is, is something you would have to guess or you would need to learn from the movie as it is part of the plot of the whole Naruto movie.
An annoying thing about this movie is that Sakura (who is, obviously, my favorite character) doesn’t get too much air-time unlike in the previous movies. *sigh* Oh well, there’s still another movie coming out soon, so maybe she will be highlighted there.
With the shippuuden movie out of my system, I am still waiting for the Original DVD of Bleach: Fade to Black to be available for order so that I can have my own copy <insert sinister laugh here>. I want to see Rukia and Ichigo’s fight scene so baaaad!
Well, that’s enough from me for now. Until the next update, Ja ne!
