The Law of… Love

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Next to the lines in the bible that reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whosoever believes in him will never perish but have eternal life“, the above quotation about love is amongs my favorites.  I had the urge to write about love all of a sudden after I completed making this little image:

Love Don’t you guys agree with me with the quote in the image that I made? It makes sense, doesn’t it?

It’s so easy to say that you love someone and even at times, it’s also easy to do fake actions to go along with it but, how can you be certain that what you have is true love?

My friends would always tease me back then whenever I wore the signature Youth for Christ Tshirt that reads, “True Love Waits”.  I’m not sure if they really get what the shirt is trying to say or if they percieve what it says in a different way than intended.  Maybe I should ask them about it, lol.

I’m not pretty much of a know-it-all when it comes to love, but I do have my views on it. Most of which have been writen in this post (if not shown in that picture) already.

Let me just revive a post I made a few months, or was it already years, back.

Have you ever been addicted on something or to someone? The kind where you can’t think of anythine else besides what you are addicted of? The kind where it had almost drove you crazy yearning for it more and more? The kind where all of your consciousness, all of your instinct just suddenly stopped working and is replaced by the incessant yearning for that which you are addicted to? The kind where nothing else mattered in the world except that something?

I don’t think I’ve ever had such craving. I admit I had been addicted to a couple of things (anime, video games, making videos and games, etc,…), but nothing so much as it would make me stop on doing anything else and instead concentrate on that something.

I don’t have any such experience of the kind of addiction that I have mentioned on my first paragraph and as such, if I were to be asked for any sort of advice on that matter, I don’t think I’d be of much help (although I will try my best to help that person in need).

Now, you might be asking: “Then why did you bother to post such a topic in your blog?” Well, the answer is pretty much because I want to discuss something on regards to one of the most popular addiction — Love.

People might find it wierd that I write about Love when I myself have yet to find “The One”. Well, it’s not really wierd especially if you are someone who simply likes to think about things and write. If you’ve heard enough stories, listened well when people confide on you for such things and open your heart and mind on these things, I think you will learn to discuss them naturally.

People may say that “experience is a good teacher”, but I say: “So is reading.” There are just some things in life that others are meant to experience and a lot more that everyone won’t be able to experience. Reading, on the other hand, can be experienced just by anyone who has patience enough and who, of course, do know how to read and understand what they are reading. You can go to all sorts of places just by reading books — taking in what they say and imagining it. That’s all there is to it.

*Ahem*

Anyways, moving on to the topic at hand.

People, most of them anyway, always manage to get themselves addicted to love. They get so caught up in it, caught up in themselves that they forgot what love is about. Although they may say that they are thinking of the other person, the truth is (and this is a fact, no matter how many times people may deny it) one of them want to be selfish when it comes with the other person. Meaning, (and this is just an example) the guy always has thoughts on making the girl his, most often than not, forgetting to have a look and see what that girl might be feeling (or the other way around, who knows, now-a-days everything seems to be possible).

This addiction, most often than not, leads into (from the given example above) the guy being obsessive when it comes to the girl and this often results on the guy being strict and the girl being pissed off at the guy and the two breaking up. This addiction also leads for people to forget what love is about.

If you have read my previous posts, I have said on one of them that if I were to be asked to define what love is that I would give them a verse from the bible, and that verse reads as follows (for the sake of those who read and forgot):

Love is patient and kind; Love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends… So faith, hope, love abide, these three, but the greatest of these is LOVE.

It’s such a beautiful way to describe love, right? But at the same time, it didn’t come from a mere mortal, but from God himself… Too bad so few people remember those words… *sigh*

Anyways, I have come up with another way to describe love and this one works well with the topic that I am talking about. It goes as follows: (NOTE: Please bear with my choice of words for the following, it is really just me rambling about BUT I do have my point).

Do you know how fishing can be used to show what love is about? Well, I just realized it last night.

Fishing is like Love. It is not as easy at it looks. Like love, you have to be ready to accept it. Like love, when you first cast you might not get a bite. Like love, it takes time and patience.

Like love, once you hooked someone you have to take things slow. But, if you take it too slow, they might get away. If you bring them in too fast, you’ll break the line but, if you bring them in too slow there’s a chance that you’ll catch them again, still a steady pace is what wins them over.

Like love, once they’ve left the water, they are yours and they can’t escape. Sometimes, they don’t want to let go, no matter how fast or slow you take it, some stick around because they love each other.

But, in a way, you can’t cheat the fish because just like love, you can’t have all the fish in the pond, you can only have one, because only one is just right for you.

However, at times, finding one doesn’t mean you have to stop fishing. You could keep on fishing because, like love it takes a couple of tries to catch the right fish.

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
