To say that I like to read would be an understatement. I don’t just like to read, I love it. My mom’s not that strict with my reading (meaning: me stuck in my room or in the house all day, reading and reading, and reading until I finished whatever it is I’m reading). Of course, she goes a little bit (just a teensy bit) frustrated or annoyed with me whenever we go to the bookstore and I buy 3-6 books at a time only to find that I’ve finished them two to three days later and am off to buy another set of books. I can’t help it, I just love to read.
You might be surprised. Finishing 3-6 books in a couple of days is surprising (and weird…and geeky/nerdy). You may even think that I’m not really reading the books, just skimming through it. But the thing is, I don’t just skim through the books. I revel in each page and I watch the story play out before me like I’m watching a movie, or a play. I don’t just read the book for the sake of finishing it and adding it to my growing collection of books, I read it for the story and I enjoy doing so.
Anyways, I won’t go on rambling about the joys that reading brings me. That would probably end up with me writing a twenty-paged worth of post (and since it’s already late while I am writing this, I’d rather not). What this post is about is just to let my thoughts calm down a bit.
I just finished reading Books 1 and 2 of Maximum Ride (by J. Patterson) and I Am Number Four (by Pittacus Lore) and I have to say, I’m psyched! It’s like reading Percy Jackson and Daniel X. I just devoured the books and found that, along with the aforementioned titled, these new series that I have found are now a part of my list of favorites (which includes: Vampire Academy, The Mortal Instruments, Wicked, The Mediator, and The Fallen to name a few). And basically, my whole weekend revolved around me reading…and reading..and reading…and…oh, you get the idea!
I have to say, I am a bit crushed at how John and Sarah ends up separated by the end of the first book in the Legacy of Lorien series. They both rank high in my favorite couples list (along with Percy and Annabeth, Jace and Clary, Dimitri and Rose, etc,…). That’s not to say that I am aching to read the development of the relationship between Max and Fang (from Maximum Ride).
I can’t wait for the 23rd of August just to get my hands on the second book of the Legacy of Lorien (entitled “The Power of Six”). I also have to search far and wide for the third book in the Maximum Ride series (since I realized that books 4, 5 and 6 are available here at the Lucena Branch of National Bookstore, of course, I can’t buy the 3 books until I get my hands on the third book since, if I buy books 4, 5 and 6, I would just be torturing myself knowing that I can’t read them until I read the third book. And let me tell you, having that thought in my mind right now frustrates me sooooo much.)
I want to go to Manila as soon as I can just to search for the third book in the Maximum Ride series…unfortunately, I can’t. At least, not right now, which is what adds to my frustration. If only I could teleport or something and head to the bookstores there. *sigh* This is another reason why I’m annoyed with bookstores here. I mean, come on! If you are going to sell a book that has a sequel that’s already out, then you would have to constantly have a stock of the remaining books of the series so long as there is a book in that series left to sell. Instead, what we have here is: we have books 1, but no book 2. Or we have books 2 and 3 but no 1 and 4. That’s just so…ughh!!
Anyways, I’m just starting to rant. A lot of good books are coming out this year (including the second book of the Kane Chronicles series this March, the Bloodlines VA spin-off, the third book of The Fallen: Passion, Daniel X’s 4th book: Game Over, and the The Son of Neptune (2nd Book of Heroes of Olympus) to name a few). Haha, talk about a coincidence! Just when I’m planning to buy a Netbook, all the great sequels to the books I’m reading are coming out. *sigh* Of course, I have my priorities which is why I’m giving up on the Netbook and focusing on the books (yeah, that’s me, the bookworm-slash-booknerd). I mean, I already have a laptop so I don’t mind waiting another year or months to buy a Netbook. I’m patient when it comes to that. What I am NOT patient in, is waiting for the sequel or a book to come out and be sold here in Lucena.
I guess I would once again resort to begging my dad to let me borrow his card so that I could buy books from Amazon. At least, until I get a card of my own and when that happens…MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *ahem*
