You would have thought that with all that’s happening in Japan right now, that they wouldn’t be able to publicize any of the Japanese manga series that many people are looking forward to. Well, I think most of us wouldn’t have minded if they weren’t able to do so. After all, everyday living and life is more important than some manga or anime series, regardless if said anime or manga series is popular or not.
However, it seems that the Shonen Jump magazine still managed to print copies of the new volume of the manga considering that we now have the latest chapters of Naruto and Bleach. And, let me tell you, things are heating up.
Once again however, Naruto ends up delivering a lame chapter. But compared to last week, it seems that this chapter intends to build the intensity for the battle between Shikamaru, Ino and Chouji versus Azuma, their former-sensei-turned-zombie. Half of the chapter, however, deals with the past between the ninja and the samurai; between Hanzo and Mifune. Of course, it has been a given that Mifune won the battle and, of course, it is also a given that we are…well, given, a flashback sequence of what happened between Hanzo and Mifune all those years ago.
I won’t get into the details here because, seriously, despite what the chapter was supposed to do, I find myself losing interest in this particular manga series. Anyways, this week’s Naruto chapter is entitled…(wait for it)…Mifune VS Hanzo: The Conclusion. Yes, THAT is the title of this week’s Naruto chapter.
Moving along to a much better and much more interesting BLEACH chapter…
Ichigo learns of who Tsukushima is. That he used to be the leader of Ginjou’s group before he turned “rogue” and killed the Shinigami representative that they were supposed to give their powers to. Which is also why he is working his way towards Ichigo, hurting his friends along the way. He wants Ichigo.
On his way home, Ichigo sees his father talking with Urahara. At this point, Ichigo begins to doubt whether Urahara really is a friend or a foe, however, Ichigo is unable to follow Urahara knowing that he doesn’t have any power to defend himself. This is why, upon returning for training, Ichigo doesn’t complain and plunges on into becoming stronger and regaining his lost Shinigami powers.
This newest BLEACH chapter is entitled, “Spotlight Broken“. Now, according to that little bit of information which you can read at the last page of the chapter, we would be seeing another transformation of Ichigo’s FullBring next chapter. I don’t know about you guys but I am more excited about that than about the Ino-Shika-Chou VS Azuma battle that’s probably going to be shown in the next Naruto chapter.
You can read both these chapters on over to our Manga Viewer Page.
Now that we have talked about the manga chapters, I would like to take this time to ask people to donate to the relief efforts being given to Japan. The homeless, those who lost loved ones and those with very little of the basic necessities for human life (food, water) need help. Although it’s a small consolation to those who lost everything, please support if you can, to the culture that fosters and produces all of the creative and entertaining manga, anime and video games that we love.
You can donate online, through many organizations such as redcross.org and networkforgood.org.
You can also donate with your mobile phone by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
One Piece Podcast will also be hosting a 24-hour marathon on March 19th to the 20th to help the victims of the disaster. The show will feature several prominent American voice actors from popular shows such as Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, and Bleach. Check them out at helpjapan.onepiecepodcast.com
