Day 33: Moment 4 Life

Today was my sister’s graduation day.   Finally,  she and her friends  get their diplomas for having completed the requirements to graduate with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.  To say that I am very proud of my sister would be an understatement.  I am not just proud of her, I feel more than happy to see her and her friends close one chapter of their lives and open another one.  Although, they still have one more hurdle, one more bridge they need to cross–passing the CPA Board Exam–something that I know they will be able to do.  They are a smart and hardworking bunch, after all.

With that in mind, I have chosen this song for the thirty-third day of our hundred day music challenge.  I find this an appropriate song for such a momentous occasion.  The song, of course, is Nicki Minaj’s Moment 4 Life.

Having taped most of the graduation ceremony, I know that a lot of the graduates and their parents feel that this was one heck of a moment.  Their hearts feeling as though it would burst out of their chest with pride.  College Graduation is, after all, not something so easily achieved.  I know for a fact that my sister, and the rest of the BSA graduates, have had it hard.  They had put so much effort to ensure that they graduate.  Blood, sweat, and tears were spilled.  A lot of people may be taking up nursing (my youngest sister included) and they may find that course hard, but I think that Accountancy is, by far, the hardest course you can take.  It demands so much from you, as I have seen it demand so much from my sister and her classmates.

That is why, I think, they deserve their diplomas and the recognitions that they have received.  All the graduates do.  Because they worked hard for it.

As this song says, they aren’t lucky…no, they are blessed.

I have to admit, I find the graduation ceremony in Sacred Heart College far more momentous and inspiring than my own graduation ceremony.  Especially the inspirational message delivered by the SHC President.  I think that, if I wouldn’t have transfered schools, I would have enjoyed my stay there as well.  I would have learned more than what books can offer (not that I am saying that I didn’t learn much from where I graduated…of course, it leaves a lot to be desired since they don’t really teach the students there what they do in SHC–which is service to others, a deeper look into faith, and good morals), it’s a good thing that I was born into a family who teaches all those stuff and who had taught me the good values.  I really think that, if the graduates from my sister’s school would keep those things in mind and in their hearts, they would have an edge against all the other graduates from all the other schools.

Of course, there are parts of the ceremony where I felt bored and resorted to playing on my PSP (as I am sure most of those who were present, especially the graduates, felt as bored as I was…after all, they were the ones sitting there and waiting for the whole ceremony to be over).

Anyways, this post has gone long enough.  Below are the lyrics to the song.  I would once again like to congratulate the graduates of 2011, especially my sister and the rest of her BSA class.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

I fly with the stars in the skies
I am no longer trying to survive
I believe that life is a prize
But to live doesn’t mean you’re alive

Don’t worry about me & who I fire
I get what I desire
It’s my empire
And yes, I call the shots, I am the umpire
I sprinkle holy water upon the vampire

In this very moment I’m king
In this very moment I slayed Goliath with a sling
This very moment I bring
put it on everything, that I will retire with the ring
and I will retire with the crown, Yes
no I’m not lucky I’m blessed, Yes
clap for the heavyweight champ, Me
but I couldn’t do it all alone, We
Young Money raised me, grew up out in Baisley
Southside Jamaica, Queens and it’s crazy
cuz I’m still hood, Hollywood couldn’t change me
shout out to my haters, sorry that you couldn’t faze me
Aint being cocky, we just vindicated
Best believe that when we done this moment will be syndicated
I don’t know,
this night just remind me of
Everything they deprived me of
P-p-p-p-put your drinks up
It’s a celebration every time we link up
We done did everything they could think of
Gr-Gr-Greatness is what we on the brink of

I wish that I could have this moment 4 life, 4 life, 4 life
Cause In this moment, i just feel so alive, alive, alive
I wish that I could have this moment 4 life, 4 life, 4 life ( I could have this moment x3)
This is my moment, I just feel so alive ( I could have this moment x3)

Fuck it me and Nicki Nicki gettin’ married today
And now you bitches that be hatin can catch a bouquet, ooooh
Yeah, you a star in my eyes, you and all them white girls party of five
Are we drinking a lil more I can hardly decide
I can’t believe we really made it I’m partly surprised, I swear

I’m really tryna make it more than what it is, cause everybody dies but not everybody lives, Ahhh

This is my moment
I waited all my
Life, I can tell it’s time
Drifting away I’m
One with the sunset
I have become alive
I wish that I could have this moment 4 life, 4 life, 4 life
Cause In this moment, i just feel so alive, alive, alive
I wish that I could have this moment 4 life, 4 life, 4 life ( I could have this moment x3)
This is my moment, I just feel so alive ( I could have this moment x3)

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
