Day 36: The River

This year’s American Idol has, admittedly, the most talented bunch of aspirants and finalists.  With the Electrifying Eleven (aka Top 11), it’s hard to really have just a single bet to win the competition.  Can it be possible that, what Randy hinted during an interview, would come to pass?  That we would have two or four American Idol winners this year?  Well, if that’s the case, being a fan of the country genre, I hope that Scotty McCreery, Naema Adedapo, James Durbin, and Lauren Alena are among the top four.

But, it’s still quite a long way from the finale.  And we will be seeing two of our eleven contestants walk off the idol stage this week, what with the judges having used their Judge’s Save last week on Casey Adams.

Anyways, today’s song is from one of my favorite idol performances to date and it is sung by one of my favorites (go figure) Scotty.  The song’s title is “The River” and it is one of the most beautiful country songs I have ever heard…and that’s saying something since I have been listening to quite a number of country songs.

It (the song) talks about dreams, and what it takes to reach and achieve them; what it means to take a leap of faith and just go for it.  I just love these kind of songs, especially the ones that remind us that we can’t do it alone, and we can’t do it by simply relying on others either.  What we need, in order to reach our goals, is to let God take the wheel and steer us into the right direction.  To let him be our captain and to put all our faith and trust in him.

Below are the lyrics to this beautiful song.  By the way, for fans of the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini, the final volume of the story of Eragon and Sappira will finally be on shelves on November 8!!!  After waiting for so long, we will finally see the conclusion to the story!  The fourth book of the series is entitled “Inheritance“.  You can now pre-order your copies (as I will once I let my Dad know about it) on Amazon!

Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

You know a dream is like a river ever changing as it flows
And a dreamer’s just a vessel that must follow where it goes.
Trying to learn from what’s behind you and never knowing what’s in store
makes each day a constant battle just to stay between the shores.

And I will sail my vessel ’til the river runs dry.
Like a bird upon the wind, these waters are my sky.
I’ll never reach my destination if I never try,
So I will sail my vessel ’til the river runs dry.

Too many times we stand aside and let the water slip away.
To what we put off ’til tomorrow has now become today.
So don’t you sit upon the shore lines and say you’re satisfied.
Choose to chance the rapids and dare to dance the tides

And I will sail my vessel ’til the river runs dry.
Like a bird upon the wind, these waters are my sky.
I’ll never reach my destination if I never try,
So I will sail my vessel ’til the river runs dry.

And there’s bound to be rough waters
And I know I’ll take some falls
But with the good Lord as my captain
I can make it through them all.

And I will sail my vessel ’til the river runs dry.
Like a bird upon the wind, these waters are my sky.
I’ll never reach my destination if I never try,
So I will sail my vessel ’til the river runs dry.

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
