Day 39: Aftermath

Adam Lambert.  He was my bet to win American Idol a few years back.  I really thought that he had it in the bag, after all, he performed better than all the other contestants and even in his off-days he was still far better than Kris Allen.  Unfortunately, for some bizzarro reason, America chose Kris Allen instead…of course, we already know how the story went from there.  Adam became a much better Idol Alumni and was even the first Idol contestant to ever become a mentor on the show.

That aside, I decided to go with his song, Aftermath, for the thirty-ninth day of our hundred song challenge.  I know, I could’ve chosen a better song especially today since it’s my younger sister’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Abby!! ^_^), but this is really a great song and it doesn’t matter if you’re listening to the original version, the remix, or the toned down version (acoustic) version of this song.  All of them sounds great, not to mention that I also like the lyrics.

The song is pretty self-explanatory.  It’s all about taking the leap of faith and believing in the talents and the gifts that God has given us.  It tells us to listen not with our critics and detractors, but to our own heart that keeps on telling us not to give up and to keep on trying.  It tells us not to regret our yesterdays, and we can only do that if we live our life to the fullest day by day.

It’s really a beautiful song.  Plus, there’s the remix version where you can dance to the tune of Aftermath.  If you don’t like bopping music, there’s also the acoustic version that showcases Adam’s mellow voice that empowers the song even more.

You can download “Aftermath” on iTunes, or you can go and buy Adam Lamber’s album.  This song is also in that album as well.

Below are the lyrics to the song.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

Have you lost your way?
Livin’ in the shadow of the messes that you made
And so it goes
Everything inside your circle starts to overflow
Take a step before you leap
Into the colours that you seek
You’ll get back what you give away
So don’t look back on yesterday

Wanna scream out
No more hiding
Don’t be afraid of what’s inside
Gonna tell ya you’ll be alright
In the Aftermath
Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you’re not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the Aftermath

You feel the weight
Of lies and contradictions that you live with every day
It’s not too late
Think of what can be if you rewrite the role you play
Take a step before you leap
Into the colours that you seek
You give back what you give away
So don’t look back on yesterday

Wanna scream out
No more hiding
Don’t be afraid of what’s inside
Gonna tell ya you’ll be alright
In the Aftermath
Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you’re not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the Aftermath
In the Aftermath

Before you break you have to she’d your armor
Take a trip and fall into the glitter
Tell a stranger that they’re beautiful
So all you feel is love, love
All you feel is love, love

Wanna scream out
No more hiding
Don’t be afraid of what’s inside
Wanna tell you you’ll be alright
In the Aftermath

Wanna scream out
No more hiding
Don’t be afraid of what’s inside
Gonna tell ya you’ll be alright
In the Aftermath

Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you’re not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the Aftermath
In the Aftermath
Gonna tell ya you’ll be alright
In the Aftermath
In the Aftermath
Just remember you are not alone
In the Aftermath
