Day 42: Baby Girl

I have written a lot of posts with Sugarland songs, and for the forty-second day of our hundred music song challenge, I am going to post another one of their songs.  What can I say?  I love Sugarland and I love their songs…not to mention that I love country music a great deal.

Anyways, today’s song is Baby Girl and it’s, obviously, one of my favorite songs.  It’s fun to sing, the tone is catchy and the lyrics is enjoyable…I sometimes sing it to my mom whenever I need to buy something but I don’t have any extra money left. XD

Kidding aside, I love the message of the song.  It’s all about going the distance and knowing that no matter what you always have your family to fall back to.  You always have their support, whether they voice it or not.  Blood is thicker than water, although, here in the real world, that’s mostly not the case.

In any case, I guess most of us (Pinoys in particular) have a dream of being able to repay our parents for all the sacrifices they have made for us.  We want them to be able to live the life they want and have it easy, to show them that all their sacrifices were worth it and that we can make our dreams and their dreams for us happen.  And, when we are finally able to do that, the feeling of accomplishment is so great that we feel as though we have done our job and done it right.

Anyways, below are the lyrics to the song.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

They say this town the stars stay up all night,
well I don’t know, can’t see em,
through glow of the neon lights
well its a long way from here,
to the place where the home fires burn,
well its two thousand miles and one left turn…

Dear Mom and Dad please send money,

I’m so broke that it ain’t funny,
well I dont need much just enough to get me through,
please dont worry cause I’m alright,
see I’m playing here at the bar tonight
well in this town I’m going to make our dreams come true.
well I love you more than anything in the world,
Love your baby girl

black top, blue skies big town full of little white lies,
everybodys your friend, you can never be sure,
they’ll promise fancy cars and diamond rings and all sorts of shiny things,
but girl you’ll remember what your knees are for

Dear Mom and Dad please send money,

I’m so broke that it ain’t funny,
well I dont need much just enough to get me through,
please dont worry cause I’m alright,
see I’m playing here at the bar tonight
well in this town I’m going to make our dreams come true.
well I love you more than anything in the world,
love your baby girl

I know that I’m on my way,
I can tell everytime I play,
I’ll know that it’s worth all the dues I payed when I can write to you and say:

Dear Mom and Dad I’ll send money
I’m so rich that it ain’t funny
well it ought to be more than enough to get you through
please dont worry becasue I’m alright
see I’m staying here at the Ritz tonight
what do ya know it made our dreams come true
and there are fancy cars and diamond rings
but you know that they dont mean a thing
cause they all add up to nothing compared to you,
well remember me in ribbons and curls,
I still love you more than anything in the world,
Love your baby girl

Your baby girl
(Dear Mom and Dad please send money,
I’m so broke that it ain’t funny,
well I dont need much just enough to get me through)
Your baby girl
(please dont worry cause I’m alright,
see I’m playing here at the bar tonight
-dreams come true.)

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I’m kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel “Winged: The Awakening” and “Winged: The Unraveling”. Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
