Day 49: This

I have no idea how this song got to my iPod, but I’m sure glad that it did.

I instantly fell in love with this song when I first heard it.  It’s Darius Rucker’s “This“.  And, it’s another country music (surprise, surprise).

The message of this song is that you never know what the future holds.  You can be surprised with how amazingly unpredictable life it.  This song has one line that both surprised and intrigued me.  In the chorus, the lyrics went: Thank God for all I missed, cause it led me here to this.  How many people can actually say something like that and mean it?  I’m pretty sure not a lot.  Most people regret missing something and they think that they can’t miss out on anything–good or bad.  I mean, that has to be one reason why people mostly jump in whatever is in the popular bandwagon, right?

But, you know what got me thinking in this song?  It’s the thought that life moves on, and sometimes it takes a direction where we think that our life sucks that we just wanna give up on it all.  But then, when we persevere, when we take one more step forward instead of giving up, we get to see something better than what we had planned.  Let’s face it, sometimes what we have planned for ourselves isn’t as great as what God has planned for us.  That’s why I think we should have more faith and trust in God and in the direction he steers our lives into.

We never know what the future holds.  No one can read our future for us.  Our future is something we have to write for ourselves, it’s something we have to live through and something we have to make.
