Day 50: Waiting on the World to Change

We’re already on the half-way mark of our hundred song challenge and for today I have decided to go with a song sung by John Meyer.  The song’s title is “Waiting for the World to Change“.

If you think about it, the title is pretty negative.  I mean, why would you stand by the sidelines and do nothing but wait if you can take the risk and help change the world for the better?  That’s precisely what the song is about.  It tells us that nothing’s going to happen if all of us are just going to wait and wait, hoping for the world to change itself for us.

To change something, someone has to take an equivalent action to push the change to occur.  An idea doesn’t turn into an innovative invention by itself.  It requires hard work, perseverance, and a whole lotta patience–something that most people now-a-days don’t have much of.  We’re all about the “instants”.  We would rather things work themselves out, rather than dirtying our hands with hard work.

The world wouldn’t change by itself unless we work together to change it for the better.

Below are the lyrics to this song.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

Me and all my friends
We’re all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There’s no way we ever could

Now we see everything that’s going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

It’s hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want

That’s why we’re waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

It’s not that we don’t care,
We just know that the fight ain’t fair
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

And we’re still waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I’m kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel “Winged: The Awakening” and “Winged: The Unraveling”. Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
