Day 61: Up On The Roof

After almost having a heart attack at waiting for Ryan Seacrest to announce that one of my favorite Idol contestants, Scotty, is safe last night on Idol’s results show, I am still having a hard time from not feeling anxious whenever I remember it.  As sad it is that Casey got booted out of the show before Jacob or Haley (Seriously, what’s up with THAT?!), I am relieve that neither James, Lauren and Scotty got off on the show.  They’re my favorites, you see…and they are the only contestants left that make the show interesting.

As we have three more days to go before the next Live show and four more days before we learn who this season’s Top 4 (who do YOU think it will be) will be, I decided to go on ahead and choose Lauren and Scotty’s most recent duet as our sixty-first song.

The title of the song (which is available for download in iTunes, albeit the iTunes version is slightly different from the one Lauren and Scotty performed live) is Up On The Roof.  I honestly have never heard of the song before prior to idol.  Of course, I learned from idol that it was written by Carol King and sung by James Taylor but, before that time the only James Taylor song that I can remember is You’ve Got A Friend (a song that Scotty sang as well)

The song, in its live version is a bit sweet and mellow unlike the iTunes which is a bit more country-pop and upbeat.  I like both versions but I think I would like the live one best.   I love hearing Lauren and Scotty sing a duet that’s mellow, sweet, and soft.  Those two sing great together!

Anyways, below are the lyrics to the song.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right in to space

On the roof it’s peaceful as can be
And there the world below can’t bother me

Let me tell you now
When I come home feelin’ tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet
I get away from the hustling crowds
And all that rat race noise down in the street

On the roof’s the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Oh, let’s go
up on the roof

At night the stars put on a show for free
And darling, you can share it all with me

I keep a-telling you
Right smack down in the middle of town
I found a paradise that’s trouble proof
So if this world starts getting you down
there’s room enough for two up on the roof

Up on the roof
Everyhting’s all right
Up on the roof
Oh, come on baby
Up on the roof
Up on the roof

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
