Day 64: This Is Country Music

Music.  You just can’t live without it.

For the sixty-forth day of our hundred day music challenge, I chose to go with a Brad Paisley song entitled: “This Is Country Music“.  For a country music fan such as myself, I find this song really hitting the bullseye of what country music is all about.

Music is a much more universal “language” than English.  Music manages to convey what it is it wants to tell the listener no matter what the race of the listener is.  Music speaks from the heart.

Brad Paisley’s song summarizes what country music is about.  Country music is about telling a story.  It’s about diving into a matter and saying something about it.  It’s about being able to say whatever you want to say.  It’s about what makes music so damn good.

Unfortunately, not many people from the newer generation likes country music.  They would prefer listening songs from Gaga (no way am I calling her a ‘Lady’ because she ain’t no lady), Kanye, BEP, and so on.  They would prefer the growling, the shouting, the damning and stuff like that.  They would prefer to listen and to Ke$ha’s songs and bop to the beat of Katy Perry’s tunes (not that that’s a bad thing).

Granted, we have people like Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Sugar Land, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts doing their best to entice young people to listen and love country music.

Anyways, that’s just my take on the whole thing.

You can read the lyrics to this song below.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

You’re not supposed to say the word “cancer” in a song.
And tellin’ folks Jesus is the answer can rub ’em wrong.
It ain’t hip to sing about tractors, trucks, little towns, and mama, yeah that might be true.
But this is country music and we do

Well you like to drink a cold one on the weekend and get a little loud
Do you wanna say I’m sorry or I love ya but you don’t know how?
Do you wish somebody had the nerve to tell that stupid boss of yours
to shove it next time he yells at you?
Well this is country music and we do

So turn it on, turn it up, and sing along
This is real; this is your life in a song
Yeah this is country music.

Are you haunted by the echo of your mother on the phone
Cryin’ as she tells you that your brother is not coming home?
And if there’s anyone that still has pride and the memory of those
that died defending the old red, white, and blue,
This is country music and we do

So turn it on, turn it up, and sing along
This is real; this is your life in a song
Just like a road that takes you home
Yeah this is right where you belong
This is country music
This is country music

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
