Day 85: Staying’s Worse Than Leaving

I am still pissed off for reasons I would rather not divulge to the world.  But I am.  Angry, I mean.  I knew that the world was unfair–that there are people out there who would do things simply for the reason that they can.  They say one thing but they don’t necessarily mean it.

The world is filled with people who will try to push you down and claim credit for something that you have done.  It doesn’t matter if that ‘something’ was something that you have worked hard to fix or to create.  Those people–they don’t care.  They just don’t.

I knew that there are people like that.  I have met my share of them even when I was in college.  You think “Mean Girls” are just something from Highschool-land?  Hah!  You’ve got that wrong.  There are different kinds of them.  I wish I could elaborate more.  I wish I could write it all here for the whole world to read just how much of a witch some people can be and I wish I can just lay it bare.  God knows how hard I am trying to NOT do just that.

Although today’s song is more of a “Break-up” song, if you know the story behind this post (which I wish you do know and wish I could tell you so that you would know), you will see that this song fits absolutely well.

For our eighty-fifth day, I decided to go with Sunny Sweeney’s Stayin’s Worse Than Leaving.  It is a song that I got (and which you can download) from iTunes.  I agree with the what the title says.  Staying is worse than leaving, especially if by staying you lose who you are as a person; if by staying you lose your morals, your values, your belief in what is right and wrong; if by staying you limit yourself and are unable to use your talents to the fullest; if by staying you confine yourself and others clip your wings stopping you from reaching and becoming the person you are meant to be.

Staying can be viewed as perseverance and courage by some.  My take on it is that, depending on the situation, staying can be stupid and cowardly.  In my situation, I think that the call of leaving (which, let me tell you, is strong) looks more like courage and if I should listen to the call, it would be quite a leap of faith.

Why should you stay if you cannot grow?  Why should you stay if you have been wronged?

Anyways, I have to pucker up for a while longer…but, let me tell you, my bullshit tolerance is already in the critical level.  It’s already in the red.

Below are the lyrics to this song.  Until the next post, dream on; fly on!

Leavin’s hard… trust me, it’s really bad
It’ll shake ya, damn near break ya, it always has
You don’t go until you’re prayin’ to break even
Until stayin’s worse than leavin’

God knows we tried everything that we could do
You can keep your pride and blame me if you need to
Even though this freedom feels a lot like treason
I know stayin’s worse than leavin’

It’s gotta get better, it can’t get worse
Hope it’s a blessing not a curse
I don’t care who passes judgement on my reasons
I know stayin’s worse than leavin’

It’s gotta get better, it can’t get worse
Hope it’s a blessing not a curse
I don’t care who passes judgement on my reasons
I know stayin’s worse than leavin’

Both our hearts let go a long time ago
Words leave scars and Lord knows they heal slow
Our love died, but somehow we are both still breathin’
I just hope someday we’ll look back on this grievin’
And say stayin’s worse than leavin’
Yeah, that stayin’s worse than leavin’
Yeah, that stayin’s worse than leavin’

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.

I came across your blog while looking up this song on the web. I think its a great song that a lot of people can relate too. I’m part filipino and live on the east coast in the US and I have learned to really enjoy country music. I look forward to reading up on your blog. Thank you for sharing 😉
