Day 1: New World

Welcome to the first day of our hundred day of music challenge.  I’m pretty excited about this new cycle for this challenge and I’m pretty happy with the song I have picked up to open said challenge. I am a fan of video game franchises that not only have jaw-dropping graphics and gameplay systems but also a compelling and strong story.  I suppose that it is a given, after all, I enjoy reading and writing.  I am passionate about it even.  A game can only go so far without a great story to hook gamers.  Granted, casual gamers would probably (read more…)

When Teddy Roosevelt was asked to give a speech to the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, on June 2, 1897, readiness was his theme.  He insisted the only way to keep peace was to be ready for war, and the only way to be ready for war was to enlarge the Navy.  It was a rousing, patriotic speech.  The following February, the Maine was blown up, killing 264 sailors and Americans across the land cried, ‘Remember the Maine!’  In April, President McKinley asked Congress to declare war on Spain.
