Burn It Down

Nope, I’m not asking people to torch stuff. This is actually the name of a song that came out on the 16th of this month. The first time I heard it, my reaction was “Freaking AWESOME !!!!”.

Living Things

‘Burn It Down’ is the first track of Linkin Park’s new album, “Living Things” which is due in stores on June 26th. Those of you who follow the band must have probably heard it already. And you will have to agree that this is pretty impressive. A lot of you might think what the big deal about this one song is. Well, to be honest, a lot of it has to do with their previous album, “A Thousand Suns”. Thing is, that album really divided opinion among a lot of fans. Some fans liked it while others thought that it wasn’t authentic LP. But after hearing this song, a majority of fans will definitely be anticipating the release of this album.

The song starts off with electronic keytones before some really heavy beats set in. It’s something new from the band but sounds amazing. Then there’s the verbal one-two between Chester and Mike, the rock/hip-hop collaboration reminiscent of days gone by. One thing is certain; love them or hate them, you can never fault Linkin Park for bad lyrics. All of their songs have a slice of reality in them, something that is missing from a lot of so-called ‘artists’ these days.

If this song is any indication of how the whole album will go, then I can assure you, it’s worth the $19 that’s the cost of preordering the album. Here’s hoping for another masterpiece from LP.

LYRICS

The cycle repeated,
As explosions broke in the sky,
All that I needed,
Was the one thing I couldn’t find,
And you were there at the turn,
Waiting to let me know,

Chorus:
We’re building it up,
To break it back down,
We’re building it up,
To burn it down,
We can’t wait,
To burn it to the ground.

The colors conflicted,
As the flames climbed into the clouds.
I wanted to fix this,
But couldn’t stop from tearing it down.

And you were there at the turn,
Caught in the burning glow.
And I was there at the turn,
Waiting to let you go.

We’re building it up,
To break it back down,
We’re building it up,
To burn it down,
We can’t wait,
To burn it to the ground.

You told me yes,
You held me high,
And I believed,
When you told that lie.

I played solider,
You played king,
Struck me down,
When I kissed that ring.

You lost that right,
To hold that crown,
I built you up,
But you let me down.

So when you fall,
I’ll take my turn,
And fan the flames,
As your blazes burn.

And you were there at the turn,
Waiting to let me know.

We’re building it up,
To break it back down,
We’re building it up,
To burn it down,

[We can’t wait,
To burn it to the ground.
So when you fall,
I’ll take my turn,
And fan the flames,
As your blazes burn. ] x2

We can’t wait,
To burn it to the ground…

I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without being asked "Why ?"
