Day 15: Overnight

Success.  All the roads that point to it are rough and are ridden with many obstacles.  So many, in fact, that people often give up never knowing how close or how far they are from reaching their goal.

There are so many self-help books now-a-days, all of them promising an easy way to gain something: whether it be fame, money, success, or even losing weight.  They shove tips after tips down our throats of what we should do to speed up the process, promising that all of those things work.  To some it may, to others…well, it might be a different story.

Though we all have our sights on virtually the same thing, no two roads are the same.  What may work for others, may not work for us…and that is okay.  Our lives were not meant to be carbon-copies of other lives.  We were meant to learn from others, but we were never meant to live our lives in the same fashion as them and expect every single result to be the same as them.

For today, I chose Amy Grant’s song, Overnight.  This song is from her Somewhere Down the Road album and it features another artist: Sarah Chapman.  I love this song because it reminds us why ‘instants’ don’t always work…

The song tries to explain why success doesn’t just happen overnight; why it would be better to toil and do our best to achieve what it is we set out to achieve, despite all the hardships and challenges that we may face.

It’s a great song to listen to; a great song to use to remind us–during our times of trouble and when life challenges us–that all of these hardships we encounter are there not to dissuade us from going further and reaching our ultimate goal, but to make us feel like we have actually accomplished something!  To remind us that beyond the disappointment, those feelings are only temporary and we shouldn’t worry, so long as we do our best…God would certainly do the rest.

After all, there are many who have gone before us, to show us the proof of that!

As the song says, “If it all just happened overnight, you would never learn to believe in what you cannot see.”

So…have a little faith!

So, you’ve handed in your resignation, contemplating why nothing turns out right.
A little fed up with all the disappointment, so what’s the point in wasting any time?

It’s only temporary, so what’s your hurry?
No need to worry. Don’t you know that…

If it all just happened overnight, you wouldn’t know how much it means.
Yeah.
If it all just happened overnight, you would never learn to believe, in what you cannot see.
Oh, what you cannot see.

I feel like my pace is at a standstill.
Do I wait till it falls into my hands?
A long highway ahead, getting started.
Steady hearted, is what I think I am.

There’s something to be said, for experience.
Who knows what’s ahead. Keep on going.

If it all just happened overnight, you wouldn’t know how much it means.
If it all just happened overnight, you would never learn to believe, in what you cannot see.
Oh, what you cannot see.

(Take it a day, a day at a time)
One foot in front of the other,
(Take it a day, a day at a time)
No need to hurry, hurry.
(Take it a day, a day at a time)
It won’t happen overnight.
It won’t happen overnight.

Have a little faith,
(Have a little faith)
Must appreciate,
(Must appreciate)
Every single day,
Don’t give up, no.

Have a little faith,
(Have a little faith)
Must appreciate,
(Must appreciate)
Every single day,
Don’t give up, no.

If it all just happened overnight, you wouldn’t know how much it means.
Yeah.
If it all just happened overnight, you would never learn to believe, in what you cannot see.

If it all just happened overnight, you wouldn’t know how much it means.
Yeah.
If it all just happened overnight, you would never learn to believe, in what you cannot see.

Have a little faith,
(Have a little faith)
Must appreciate,
(Must appreciate)
Every single day,
Don’t give up, no.

Have a little faith,
(Have a little faith)
Must appreciate,
(Must appreciate)
Every single day,
Don’t give up, no.

There is nothing more that I enjoy doing than reading books and writing. I'm kind of a nerd like that, XD. I have been writing for 7 years and am the author of the YA novel "Winged: The Awakening" and "Winged: The Unraveling". Also, a YouTuber dealing with video games and gaming.
